Jon Snow is a journalist and presenter, currently employed by ITN. He is best known for presenting Channel 4 News. Jon joined Channel 4 News in 1989 and has anchored the programme from wherever major world events occur: from the Iranian Revolution, the fall of the Berlin wall and the release of Nelson Mandela and most recently from Washington and New York on the Syrian crisis and the opening with Iran. In February 2006 he was named Journalist of the Year at the Royal Television Society Awards for his reports from New Orleans, Pakistan and from Africa.
Snow has held numerous honorary appointments, including as Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University from 2001 to 2008.
He is known for his vast collection of colourful ties and socks.
Snow declined an OBE because he believes working journalists should not take honours from those about whom they report.
