Dame Barbara Stocking has been appointed as Chair of Trustees for independent charity, A Blueprint for Better Business.

Barbara was one of the charity’s founding trustees and her appointment comes as the charity, which was formed in 2014, looks to grow the footprint of Blueprint, which sets out to challenge and support businesses to operate to a purpose that serves society.

On her appointment, Barbara commented: “I have been proud to serve on the Board of Trustees for the past few years, so it is an honour to accept the role of Chair. Blueprint’s ambition is to make it possible to put ‘doing good’ at the heart of modern business so I look forward to working with the management team to ensure our work continues to fulfil this goal.”

Charles Wookey, CEO of A Blueprint for Better Business, said: “Barbara has been part of the leadership team for Blueprint since our inception, so we’re delighted that she has accepted this position. Her wealth of experience will ensure that we continue to make a demonstrable impact on how businesses operate and manage their responsibilities within society.”

Barbara’s background includes work with the NHS, Oxfam and the World Health Organisation, where she was appointed Chair of an independent panel which assessed the WHO’s response to the Ebola outbreak. She was awarded a Dame Commander of the British Empire (DBE) for humanitarian services in the 2008.

Barbara replaces Loughlin Hickey who has been Chair since 2014, and who remains a Trustee. The other Trustees are Sue Garrard, Andrea Ponti and Andrew Hill.
