Cardinal Vincent Nichols was elected President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales in 2009 and installed as the Archbishop of Westminster. Cardinal Nichols received the Pallium in Rome from Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI later that year. Pope Francis elevated him to Cardinal in St Peter’s Basilica on 22 February 2014. He has a number of other roles, including being the first Chancellor of St Mary’s University, Twickenham, and patron of the Cardinal Hume Centre.
